No ones made the joke yet, so I shall. :p

How is she handling in the snow?

So far so good. It's my second time driving in the winter, first year with a stick in the winter too! :)

Awesome. I'm really thinking I'm about to pull the trigger on a new FoST. At under $20k new, it's hard to pass up.
![]() 11/20/2014 at 23:16 |

Good god, everyone's getting one now!! (o_O)
They're under $20k new now???
![]() 11/21/2014 at 06:10 |
|
Yeah, base models brand new are easy to find under $20k. Plus $500 recent grad bonus and 0% financing...
It's really hard to pass up. Plus I found a dealership that gives a lifetime warranty on their drivetrains. Soooooooooo how do I pass that?
![]() 11/21/2014 at 09:24 |

Holy depreciation Batman!! I got mine for $22k 8 months ago..
![]() 11/21/2014 at 18:44 |

yeah, well its also all in year end incentives dude.
![]() 11/21/2014 at 18:58 |

im hearing some remorse for the st. what have you heard?
![]() 11/21/2014 at 19:27 |
|
Some remorse? What do you mean?
![]() 11/21/2014 at 20:01 |

reliability. Is yours a 2014 then?
I wonder if it is mostly exclusive to the first year.
![]() 11/22/2014 at 00:29 |
|
I've not heard any reliability issues from '13 cars. Could you elaborate, unless you're referring to the wiring harness recall?
![]() 11/22/2014 at 01:03 |
|
nope some turbo issues or steering something. A couple dudes on here are heavily crapping on them for reliability
![]() 11/22/2014 at 01:08 |
|
Really??? Who?? I've not heard of these issues or anything bad at all. I've had nothing but good times with this car; mine's a 2014, but I don't think it makes much difference.
![]() 11/22/2014 at 02:42 |
|
a couple guys in my thread about warranty :-(
II suspect first model year issues and some unlucky lemon type stuff though. Every product has its share of issues on a small number of production and I feel like you can hear about that on any car.
Then again maybe I'm just rationalizing for the car I desire.

are you driving on the stock tires or did you throw on winter rubber?
![]() 11/26/2014 at 19:09 |
|
Winter rubber is on! :)
![]() 11/26/2014 at 19:18 |
|
That's my biggest hang up with buying one right now. I don't want to throw out more cash for other rubber .
![]() 11/26/2014 at 19:29 |
|
Fortunately, my first set was a gift, but I'd rather have just one set. -_-
![]() 11/26/2014 at 19:36 |
|
Lol so you have 2 winter sets?
![]() 11/26/2014 at 19:42 |
|
I've got summer and winter.
![]() 11/26/2014 at 19:58 |
|
Oh. If I buy I'm thinking of braving it slowly with the summers on for the first winter.
Or waiting a bit to save for the winters. Think it's doable?
![]() 11/26/2014 at 20:00 |
|
NO! Absolutely not. The F1's will not do shit for you in anything below 40, or snow, or ice. It'll be like driving with slicks.
Why risk a $20+k car when you can just go spend $1k on proper winter tires and wheels? That's how much my set cost.
![]() 11/26/2014 at 20:06 |
|
Good point... Don't know I want to budget that though.
Maybe the fiance is right and we should skip the manual fun car... IDK. I'm fucking getting stressed and depressed about this shit.
![]() 11/26/2014 at 20:07 |

Can I make a suggestion?
![]() 11/26/2014 at 20:16 |
|
Shoot away good sir. Where did you grab your wheels/tires btw?
![]() 11/26/2014 at 20:49 |
|
Im assuming you want a new ST, why not get a used one and spare yourself the depreciation and take the extra on tires.
Alsk, i have no idea where my dad got my set.
![]() 11/26/2014 at 21:14 |
|
Well ATM I can get a new focus ST right now I'm down to $19.2k.
Not many used are that low, and I might as well grab the new one then.
![]() 11/27/2014 at 20:06 |
|
I think I'm going to spring and grab one... but I will need to order wheels/tires right away. Seems like a lot of ST forum dudes buy 16x16.5 steelies to throw snow tires on. Any suggestions?
Tire sizing has always confused me a lot. Tire rack has a 17" deal for $1k, but I hear I could get down near $700 running the 16's and still get good winter performance.
![]() 11/27/2014 at 22:02 |
|
I don't know for winters, I've got 17s for mine, Sport Classic rims running General Altimax Arctics tires, I haven't had much experience in the snow to say much about them yet, but you could go with what I've seen to be the popular choice.
Blizzaks. From what I've read up on, the smaller and narrower the tire, the better it gets through snow.
![]() 11/27/2014 at 22:04 |
|
Very nice!
Anything else I should know before buying it? I'm at $19,200 right now for the brand new one... can't even find a used one near me for that. It's hard to pass up.
![]() 11/27/2014 at 22:05 |
|
I only wish I bought one for that much. Is it an ST1?
![]() 11/27/2014 at 22:13 |
|
Yeah bare bones. I don't really care to have much more. The leather recaros are too tight for long drives IMO, and leather sucks.
Only thing I'd possibly want is a moon roof, but I'd rather not spend that cash.
![]() 11/27/2014 at 22:46 |
|
I wasn't allowed to get a moonroof.
![]() 11/27/2014 at 22:56 |
|
LOL why not??? They are sweet.
![]() 11/27/2014 at 23:06 |
|
My dad argued it's a "sports car", it needs no luxury things like a sun/moonroof or dual-zone climate control, I just wanted Reacros. :(
![]() 11/27/2014 at 23:26 |
|
You have the cloth?
Also, at least he supported your getting a sportier car. And the Recaros are great and all if you only drive short periods of time and are on a race track. Otherwise, they definitely feel like they'd get uncomfortable.
![]() 11/27/2014 at 23:44 |
|
Indeed I do have the cloth. It's comfortable enough for a fun daily driver, but it absolutely will not do you any good whatsoever in AutoX or a track day bro.
And I think "sportier" could be used loosely here because my definition of sports car changed.
![]() 11/27/2014 at 23:54 |
|
what changed your definition?
I don't consider the St a sports car. But it is pretty sporty for a four door.
Any regrets with the St?
![]() 11/28/2014 at 00:08 |
|
I want a Mustang now.
K-Roll's Ideal Sports Car means:
1. 2 doors
2. 2+2 seating
3. Cylinder count ranging from 6-12
4. Can be daily driven all the time
![]() 11/28/2014 at 10:22 |
|
Yeah haha, I can't go that route. Need four doors. I feel the St is a great bridge between sport and utility though.
Not much else for the price.
